17/10/08  I didn't post and selections today.  In race 2 at Townsville my ratings had a double collect on the first four which Pd. $1,177.10 and $1,846.30.  Overall 24 races for 15 winners, 11 quinellas, 7 trifectas and 4 first fours.  It's the Caulfield Cup tomorrow and I'll be doing my best to find the winner for my members.

02/10/08  What a shocker!  I missed three legs at Geelong today and the runner I excluded in the third leg got up and won.  They were back racing on the proper track at Geelong and it seems it has caused all sorts of problems for me just like when they started racing on the artificial track.  I might need to be a little careful with meetings there for the time being.  Overall 25 races for 16 winners, 14 quinellas, 6 trifectas and 4 first fours.  Looking at Warrnambool for tomorrow.

19/09/08  I didn't post any Quadrella selections today and it turned out to be the correct decision although I would have come unbelieveably close to the massive collect of $70,000+ at Geelong.  UNiTAB Treble players would have had a big smile on their face today as the Treble at Geelong Pd. $7,270.70 which is a brilliant return for an investment of $125.00.  Also anyone would took the trifecta in the last race at Geelong had an unbelieveable day as it Pd. $12,215.80.  Overall 33 races for 18 winners, 10 quinellas, 7 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Looking at Caulfield, Rosehill, Eagle Farm and Cheltenham for tomorrow.

18/09/08  A disappointing result today as I missed the second leg at Bendigo.  I knew the runner that knocked us out was a danger but I can't cover the field.  Overall 32 races for 19 winners, 11 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 3 first fours.  There might not be any selections tomorrow depending on what the meetings at Canberra and the Sunshine Coast are like.

12/09/08  I didn't post any selections today and it turned out to be a good thing.  I noticed that in race 8 at Port Macquarie my top rated horse (Dig In) was priced by me at $4.10 and won at $54.90!!  Now that's a value bet.  Overall 25 races for 13 winners, 6 quinellas, 3 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Looking at Moonee Valley, Rosehill, Eagle Farm and Morphetville for tomorrow.

07/09/08  A very good day.  The Quadrella at Bendigo Pd. $3,171.20 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $1,072.10.  The Treble in particular was a great return.  Sale continued to be one of my poorer tracks and I missed the second leg although I got the higher paying Quadrella of the two today so I'm happy about that.  The UNiTAB Treble at the Sunshine Coast Pd. $95.10.  I've had a great time with my fun bet selections in the Cup races recently and it continued today.  My win only selection won the Mudgee Cup and Pd. $3.50 and my each way selection in the Moree Cup ran third and Pd. $2.00 for the place so a nice little fun profit there.  That's now an each way bet for the winners of the Cairns and Narromine Cup, an each way bet for third in the Moree Cup, a win only bet for the winner of the Mudgee Cup and an each way bet for unplaced in the Casino Cup.  Not bad, eh?  And good fun too.  Trifecta collects included Bendigo race 5 Pd. $1,101.00, race 7 Pd. $1,395.30, the Sunshine Coast race 2 Pd. $205.90 and Mudgee race 5 Pd. $384.50.  Also my Quadrella selections in race 5 at Sale got the first four which Pd. $1,091.10.  Overall 48 races for 32 winners, 22 quinellas, 16 trifectas and 8 first fours.

05/09/08  I'm really kicking myself today.  I had a long hard look at the winner of the first leg at Geelong and decided to leave it out.  I knew it was a danger and it's such a shame I didn't add it as I got the other three legs and the last two were at good prices.  The ratings got the Quadrella at Townsville which Pd. $457.80 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $44.90.  Wyong was abandoned.  The first four in race 3 at Canberra Pd. $1,146.70, the trifecta in race 2 Pd. $1,211.50 and the quinella Pd. $210.10.  Overall 23 races for 18 winners, 13 quinerrs, 7 trifectas and 5 first fours.  Vic metro meetings on Saturaday have been excellent recently so hopefully that continues tomorrow.  Looking at Flemington, Randwick, Eagle Farm, Cheltenham and Stawell for tomorrow.

29/08/08  We won the Quadrella today at Geelong which Pd. $1,844.70 and the UNiTAB Treble Pd. $324.20.  It was a strange day today and we had our share of luck for a change.  Firstly No 7 was a late scratching in the third leg which elevated No 4 and it won.  Secondly I was certain we'd lost the photo finish in the first leg but we got up.  We just couldn't get another bit of luck which was No 7 in the last leg which ran second and would have Pd. $12,814.50.  Not to worry as a win is a win and as I said we got some luck today.  The ratings got the Quadrella at Tamworth which Pd. $5,227.10 and the UNiTAB Treble Pd. $272.20.  Also the UNiTAB Treble at Albury Pd. $322.80.  I'm very pleased with how the ratings are performing with multi-leg bets at the moment and it's a great sign for my once a year Spring Carnival members.  The trifecta in race 3 at Tamworth Pd. $270.60 but otherwise it was a quiet day for the exotics.  Overall 33 races for 20 winners, 9 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Looking at Caulfield, Rosehill, Doomben, Cheltenham and Benalla for tomorrow.

28/08/08  Yesterday was great however today was not.  I've struggled at Sale recently and today turned out that way again as I missed the first two legs.  Overall 25 races for only 12 winners, 7 quinellas, 2 trifectas and 1 first four.  Looking at Geelong and Albury for tomorrow.

27/08/08  A win at Moonee Valley today and the Quadrella Pd. $860.30 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $36.50.  I thought the Quadrella might have paid a bit more as I got the first leg up at $20+ but a win is a win.  The ratings also got the Quadrella at Belmont which Pd. $780.40 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $426.10.  The ratings had a great day at Moonee Valley which included the trifecta in race 5 which Pd. $1,316.40.  Overall 39 races for 30 winners, 20 quinellas, 11 trifectas and 4 first fours.  Looking at Sale for tomorrow.

25/07/2008  The right decision to leave today alone as I wouldn't have got any Quadrellas.  I was encouraged though as the ratings got three legs of the Quadrella at Geelong and two legs at good prices.  The trifecta in race 10 at Geelong Pd. $1,902.90 and in race 1 at Ipswich Pd. $280.60.  Overall 19 races for 14 winners, 8 quinellas, 6 trifectas and 3 first fours.  Looking at Moonee Valley, Canterbury, Doomben and maybe Townsville and Belmont for tomorrow.

24/07/2008  A day to forget at Cranbourne as I missed three legs of the Quadrella.  The ratings got the Quadrella at Wagga which Pd. $3,588.80 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $760.40.  The ratings have been doing well recently but we just aren't getting the results from Victorian racing but that will change and our profits will improve.  The first four at Wagga in race 1 Pd. $1,070.80 and the trifecta in race 7 Pd. $268.20.  Overall 16 races for 10 winners, 7 quinellas, 7 trifectas and 3 first fours.  Probably won't post any selections tomorrow as the racing is at Geelong on the artificial track.

23/07/2008  I had some personal matters to take care of today so I couldn't post any selections.  The ratings got the Quadrella at Balaklava which Pd. $2,883.90 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $133.30.  Some trifecta collects included Eagle Farm race 5 Pd. $231.50 and race 7 Pd. $1,780.20 while Balaklava race 6 Pd. $301.10 and Belmont race 6 Pd. $576.60.  Overall 43 races for 26 winners, 15 quadrellas, 8 trifectas and 1 first four.  Looking at Cranbourne for tomorrow.

22/07/2008  Ratings only.   No Quadrella wins today but the UNiTAB Treble at Kilmore Pd. $118.70.  The trifecta in race 8 at Taree Pd. $484.70.  Overall 19 races for 13 winners, 9 quinellas, 6 trifectas and 4 first fours.  Looking at Gosford and Eagle Farm for tomorrow (Bendigo has a 2yo race as first leg so not an option).

20/07/2008  No success today as we were knocked out in the last leg at Bendigo.  The trifecta in race 7 at Bendigo Pd. $284.90 and the first four in race 2 at Kalgoorlie Pd. $1,160.60.  Overall 30 races for 19 winners, 14 quinellas, 10 trifectas and 7 first fours.

19/07/2008  One Quadrella win today at Moe Pd. $578.90 (no UNiTAB Treble).  We were unlucky at Caulfield where my sixth rated horse knocked us out in a close finish in the last leg.  The trifecta in race 8 at Moe Pd. $392.30.  Overall 48 races for 35 winners, 19 quinellas, 10 trifectas and 5 first fours.  Looking at Bendigo for tomorrow.

18/07/2008  Sometimes racing can be very harsh.  The track was downgraded at Seymour today so I had to rerate the field.  I  spent a long time trying to decide between numbers 10 and 14 as my fifth selection in the secong leg.  I went with number 10 and number 14 won!  Had I gone with 14 we would have won the Quadrella which paid very well.  Some trifectas today included Seymour race 2 Pd. $420.40, Muswellbrook race 2 Pd. $1,391.80 and race 3 Pd. $219.40 and also the Sunshine Coast race 1 Pd. $218.00 and race 2 Pd. $228.80.  Overall 28 races for 20 winners, 14 quinellas, 7 trifectas and 4 first fours.  Looking at Caulfield, Rosehill, Eagle Farm and Moe for tomorrow.

17/07/2008  No luck today at Ballarat where I missed the last two legs.  The first four in race 4 at Rockhampton Pd. $1,927.50 and the trifecta Pd $386.20 and the first four in race 2 at Northam Pd. $1,400.50 and the trifecta Pd. $289.20.  Overall 34 races for 16 winners, 9 quinellas, 6 trifectas and 3 first fours.

16/07/2008  Two Quadrellas today (one special Quadrella) for no luck.  My full selections for Doomben got the Quadrella which Pd. $3,174.70 and the UNiTAB Treble Pd. $374.10.  Overall 40 races for 22 winners, 16 quinellas, 8 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Looking at Ballarat and maybe Northam for tomorrow.

12/07/2008  A fantastic win today at Doomben.  Quadrella Pd. $13,172.90 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $996.90.  Also the Quadrella at Moonee Valley Pd. $786.80 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $348.70.  The first four in race 7 at Doomben Pd. $1,362.90 and the trifecta Pd. $236.50.  Other trifectas included Moonee Valley race 6 Pd. $409.20, Doomben race 6 Pd. $265.60 and race 8 Pd. $215.30.  Overall 40 races for 34 winners, 26 quinellas, 15 trifectas and 4 first fours.  Looking at Sale, Casterton, Grafton and the Sunshine Coast for tomorrow.

10/07/2008  The ratings got the Quadrella today at Grafton which Pd. $2,347.90 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $284.00.  I was very surprised that the Quadrella paid that much and would have listed Grafton however it just looked like the favourites were going to win and therefore there wasn't any value.  The trifecta in race 8 at Mackay Pd. $1,268.10 and in race 4 at Grafton Pd. $352.00.  Unfortunately they're racing on the artificial track at Geelong tomorrow so I will have a very good look at Ipswich.

09/07/2008  Two Quadrellas today and no winners although unfortunately I cost us the Quadrella at Gosford by changing the second leg.  Wednesdays are usually hard and it's why they're no longer part of my official selections.  The first four in race 5 at Sandown Pd. $1,105.80 and the trifecta Pd. $289.80.  Also the trifecta in race 5 at Belmont Pd. $508.20.  There were also some good quinella collects at Belmont.  Overall 40 races for 27 winners, 19 quinellas, 13 trifectas and 5 first fours.  Looking at Mornington and Grafton for tomorrow.

08/07/2008  Ratings only.  Just one meeting today and no luck with the Quadrella.  A nice value winner in race 3 where my second rated runner was priced at 7.50 and won at $20.60.  Overall 8 races for 7 winners, 2 quinellas, 2 trifectas and 2 first fours.

07/07/2008  Ratings only.  One Quadrella win today at Warrnambool Pd. $397.60 and the UNiTAB Treble Pd. $135.40.  The ratings missed the last leg at Muswellbrook.  The trifecta in race 2 at Muswellbrook Pd. $1,924.80.  Overall 18 races for 14 winners, 7 quinellas, 5 trifectas and 2 first fours.

06/07/2008  Not really much to say about today as we were knocked out in the first leg of both Quadrellas.  The UNiTAB Treble at Seymour Pd. $357.70.  The first four in race 4 at Seymour Pd. $4,480.50 and the trifecta Pd. $536.90.  From this week Wednesday and Saturday Quadrella selections WILL NOT be included in the Profit/Loss Results.  I've finished a revised Profit/Loss for the last twelve months for Thursday, Friday and Sunday selections and the profit on turnover is over 60%.  Any Member who would like a copy can email me.  Overall 26 races for 16 winners, 11 quinellas, 7 trifectas and 6 first fours.

05/07/2008  No Quadrellas today.  The UNiTAB Treble at Flemington Pd. $55.90.  I noticed that my ratings got the Quadrella at Belmont which Pd. $5,487.30 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $1,386.80.  Today was a very good example of the reason why I've put up a message about Saturdays on the Members Page.  The first four in race 5 at Rosehill Pd. $1,153.10, race 4 at Cheltenham Pd. $877.40 and race 7 Pd. $1,136.50 and race 5 at Belmont Pd. $722.30.  The trifecta in race 1 at Wangaratta Pd. $1,153.50.  There were a number of very good value winners against my rated odds as well.  For example, in race 8 at Belmont my top rated runner was rated at 3.50 and it won at $18.20.  Overall 49 races for 28 winners, 19 quinellas, 14 trifectas and 7 first fours.  Looking at Ballarat, Seymour and the Sunshine Coast for tomorrow.

04/07/2008  A very good win today.  Bendigo Quadrella Pd. $4,156.30 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $1,657.50.  After having no luck yesterday the close finishes went our way today.  The first four in race 8 at Bendigo Pd. $3,955.00 and trifecta Pd. $330.70 (ratings not selections).  The first four in race 4 at Ipswich Pd. $2,609.60, the trifecta in race 1 at Moree Pd. $929.70 and the trifecta in race 4 Pd. $469.90.  Today was the first day I provided my odds for my top five rated horses and some of the value winners were as follows:

03/07/2008  We couldn't have come any closer today at Cranbourne.  I got three legs but missed the third in a photo and we had second, third and fourth.  Very frustrating but we came much closer today than we did yesterday and it's why I've suggested that members concerntrate on certain days only (see the Members Page).  The first four in race 5 at Cranbourne Pd. $1557.60 (full unit cost $400 as per Quadrella selections) and the trifecta in race 6 at Newcastle Pd. $349.00.  Overall 22 races for 16 winners, 14 quinellas, 10 trifectas and 5 first fours.  Hong ratings will be posted after 7:30pm tonight.  It will also be the first meeting that I provide my assessed odds so we'll see how it goes.  Looking at Bendigo and Ipswich for tomorrow.

29/06/2008  One Quadrella win today at Mornington Pd. $273.20 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $282.50.  I was hoping the short priced favourite wouldn't win the first leg but it wasn't to be.  I'm getting Quadrellas at the moment but they're just not paying much.  Hopefully I get a good collect soon to get us back on track.  Overall 34 races for 23 winners, 16 quinellas, 5 trifectas and 3 first fours.

28/06/2008  We were very unlucky today and should have got the Quadrella at Flemington.  My sixth rated horse knocked us out in the last leg and denied us what would have been a good collect.  At Rosehill I missed two legs but, with hindsight, I should have got the winner in race 6 but I wouldn't have got the last so it didn't matter.  At the Sunshine Coast I also missed two legs.  For the benefit of new members I'll just repeat my view that there is nothing wrong with halving the size of your investments on Saturdays and Wednesdays.  In fact, I know some members don't invest at all on Saturdays.  The first four in race 8 at Cheltenham Pd. $11,854.00, the trifecta Pd. $1,098.80 and the quinella Pd. $130.90.  Also the trifecta in race 1 at Hong Kong Pd. $2,208.00 and the quinella Pd. $88.50.  Overall 58 races for 36 winners, 21 quinellas, 9 trifectas and 5 first fours.  Looking at Mornington, Hamilton and the Sunshine Coast for tomorrow.

26/06/2008  One Quadrella at Ballarat today where I missed two legs.  I knew the winner of the third leg was a danger but I would never have picked the winner of the last.  The first four in race 2 at Rockhampton Pd. $1,811.80.  Overall 8 races selected for 6 winners, 5 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 3 first fours.  They're racing on the artificial track at Geelong tomorrow so if I don't like any of the interstate meetings there won't be any selections.  Looking at Port Macquarie and Doomben for tomorrow.

25/06/2008  A win at Sandown today which Pd. $399.80 and UNiTAB treble Pd. $111.50.  We've had our share of Quadrella wins since the 9th but we're still waiting on a good collect.  Leaving Eagle Farm alone was the correct decision as I would have missed the second leg.  Overall 8 races selected for 6 winners, 3 quinellas, 3 trifectas and 3 first fours.  Looking at Ballarat for tomorrow and maybe Northam.

22/06/2008  A win today at Cranbourne where the Quadrella Pd. $1,688.60 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $286.20.  Since the 9th of this month my strike rate has actually been quite good.  What I need now are some bigger collects and I'll be back on track to getting members some profits.  The ratings got the Quadrella at the Sunshine Coast.  Overall 9 races selected for 6 winners, 5 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 2 first fours.  There is a very small possibility that the ratings for tomorrow may be posted late however at this stage they'll be posted by 11.00am.

20/06/2008  No selections again today and it turned out to be the correct decision.  What put me off Bendigo today was the number of horses that were rated reasonably highly that either had never won or had only won in Maiden class.  Cessnock and Ipswich both looked like they had no value and that's the way it turned out.  I know that some members like to bet most days but at the moment the racing is tough and I'd prefer to be a little more selective rather than having a bet for the sake of it until I can see the results turning our way.  We can then have more bets.  Looking at Moonee Valley, Rosehill, Eagle Farm and Morphetville for tomorrow.

19/06/2008  I had trouble with both my computer and the TAB web site today.  Anyone else have problems with the TAB site?  I couldn't be sure the market displayed was the current one or if it was the morning market as it displayed no races had yet been run after race 4!  In the end it didn't matter as I wouldn't have got the Quadrella in either meeting I was looking at.  I didn't really like todays racing so I'm glad my computer problems made my decision easy.  The trifecta in race 7 at Mackay Pd. $1,289.00.  The ratings also got the Quadrella at Mackay which Pd. $780.50 and the UNiTAB Treble Pd. $238.60.  Looking at Bendigo, Cessnock and Ipswich for tomorrow.

18/06/2008  No joy again today as I missed two legs at Sandown.  I'm certainly being tested at the moment.  The track was upgraded so to I had to re-rate the fields which dropped No 12 to sixth in race 7 and of course naturally it won.  My sixth horse also won the last race.  I was frustratingly close today and was only one rated horse away from what would have been a reasonable collect.  The first four in race 5 at Doomben Pd. $3,533.10  Overall 8 races selected for 4 winners, 4 quinellas, 3 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Looking at Seymour and Wyong for tomorrow.

17/06/2008  Ratings only.  One Quadrella win today at Townsville Pd. $885.40 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $159.50.  Unlucky at both Moe and Ballina where the ratings missed the last leg in both.  Overall 33 races for 27 winners, 12 quinellas, 7 trifectas and 7 first fours.  Looking at Sandown and Doomben for tomorrow.

16/06/2008  Ratings only.  A win today at Narrandera Quadrella Pd. $944.70 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $379.10.  Unlucky at Gunnedah where the the ratings got the first three legs and and missed the last to my sixth rated horse.  The ratings only got one leg at Geelong but it was on the artificial track and the form seems to go out the window there.  Overall 24 races for 13 winners, 10 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 2 first fours.

15/06/2008  Two Quadrellas today for no wins.  The results are very tough at the moment.  I missed two legs at both Ballarat and Warrnambool.  Unfortunately I didn't select the Sunshine Coast as we would have got the Quadrella which Pd. $2044.20 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $201.50.  At Port Macquarie the first four in race 7 Pd. $3,594.80 and the trifecta Pd. $965.90.  If you're a new member just do your best to hang in there.  Longer term members know that from time to time we have these lean runs but it always turns around.  Overall 12 races selected for 6 winners, 5 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Ratings only tomorrow.  Be careful if you like taking the Quadrella on the Victorian meeting on Mondays as they're racing on the artificial track at Geelong.

14/06/2008  Three Quadrellas today for one win at Randwick which Pd. $1,711.30 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $231.50.  Unlucky at Kilmore where we missed the last leg and of course had second and third!  Ipswich was a shocker but I suppose I can take some comfort in the fact that no one got the Quadrella there and the full $201,023.66 in the pool will now be used as a jackpot on future races.  The first four in race 6 at Kilmore Pd. $1,336.70.  Overall 24 races for 17 winners, 15 quinellas, 9 trifectas and 2 first fours.

13/06/2008  There weren't any selections today as I had some personal matters that I had to take care of.  As it turned out it didn't matter as I wouldn't have got any of the Quadrellas.  I really wish they'd stop racing on that artificial track at Geelong.

12/06/2008  The correct decision to leave today alone as I wouldn't have got the Quadrella at either Sale or Hawkesbury.  They're racing on the artificial track at Geelong tomorrow and I have to attend to some personl matters so I won't be providing any selections.  I'll do my best to provide my ratings however they may be posted later than usual so keep checking my ratings page up to 1.00pm.

08/06/2008  It's very tough at the moment.  Three Quadrellas today and no winners unfortunately.  Our luck will change and the collects will come but obviously I can't say exactly when.  We just have to remain disciplined and make sure we're properly capitalised until it does.  Overall 26 races selected for 13 winners, 11 quinellas, 6 trifectas and 1 first four.  Tomorrow is a public holiday so I will be posting my Quadrella selections.  Looking at Moonee Valley and Eagle Farm for tomorrow.

07/06/2008  Just another Saturday! Four Quadrellas and no wins.  Todays result is a good example of why I've suggested that members should consider halving or reducing the size of their bets on Saturdays (and Wednesdays).  I got the first two legs at Eagle Farm but missed the last two with two longshots winning.  After getting the first two legs at Flemington I lost the third in a photo but it didn't matter as I didn't get the last anyway.  Swan Hill was disappointing as I thought I had that meeting covered but could only manage three legs and Newcastle was very poor where I only managed one leg.  Looking at Swan Hill and the Sunshine Coast for tomorrow.

06/06/2008  It's been a slow week so far but I'm glad I haven't posted any members selections.  Once again today we wouldn't have won the Quadrella at any of the three meetings I looked at.  Whilst we haven't had a bet this week we've certainly saved some money by being selective.  There is a jackpot on tomorrow's Quadrella at Flemington of $169,314.65 so I'll be chasing that.  Also, for those who would like to play, there is a jackpot on the first four in race 7 at Eagle Farm of $169,680.58.  Looking at Flemington, Randwick, Eagle Farm and Newcastle for tomorrow.

05/06/2008  The correct decision again today to leave the racing alone.  I would have missed two legs at Geelong and one at Townsville.  Looking at Swan Hill, Grafton and Ipswich for tomorrow.

04/06/2008  The correct decision to not invest today.  I would have missed the last leg at Sandown.  The first four in race 6 at Sandown Pd. $6,669.20.  The first fours have been quiet recently so it's great to see todays excellent collect.  Looking at Kembla Grange and Townsville for tomorrow.  I'll also look at Geelong but I think it's on the artificial track which I don't like betting on.

02/06/2008  Ratings only.  If you followed my suggested approach for Monday and Tuesday Quadrellas (see the members page) you would have won the Quadrella today at Bairnsdale which Pd. $1,885.10 and UNiTAB Treble Pd. $222.00.  The ratings also got the UNiTAB Treble at Wagga which Pd. $453.80.  The first four in race four at Wagga Pd. $1,337.80.  If you're not using my ratings on Monday and Tuesday you've missed some good profits over the last month or so.  If you have any questions about Monday and Tuesday punting please send me an email and I'll get Tim to respond.

01/06/2008  We came frustratingly close to what probably would have been a reasonable collect today at Mornington.  My sixth rated horse knocked us out in the second leg and of course we got the other three legs including the first at a nice price.  I say frustrating because a reasonable collect today would have made up for our losses last month.  Times like these however are a reminder that you need to make sure you're properly capitalised and can withstand a run of outs.  Otherwise you won't be in the game when the wins come.  Just a reminder that it may well be worth your while looking at taking the Quadrella for the Vic meetings on Monday and Tuesdsay.  I've put a message on the members page suggesting how you should approach it. 

31/05/2008  One Quadrella today at Flemington where I missed two legs.  It was typical Saturday and it's been a while since we've had a good collect on a Saturday.  May was a bad month for us and I'm happy to see the back of it.  Hopefully June is much better and profitable!  Looking at Mornington, Murwillumbah and the Sunshine Coast for tomorrow.  I should also be able to provide my ratings for Hong Kong.

30/05/2008  A win today at Sale where the Quadrella Pd. $825.10 and Qld Treble Pd. $137.70.  The ratings got the first four in race 8 at Casino which Pd. $3,205.60 and the trifecta Pd. $804.50.  Overall 8 races selected for 7 winners, 3 quinellas, 2 trifectas and 1 first four.  Looking at Flemington, Rosehill and maybe Eagle Farm for tomorrow.

29/05/2008  Hopefully a few members had something on the Quadrella today at Cranbourne which Pd. $1,471.50 and the Qld Treble Pd. $227.80.  The ratings also got the Qld Treble at Wyong which Pd. $787.90 and Townsville Pd. $85.40.  As I said yesterday, whilst my Quadrella selections have made a loss this month the ratings have been performing very well.  Looking at Sale for tomorrow.

28/05/2008  One Quadrella today at Sandown where I missed two legs.  Whilst we still have three days left in the month it may well be that my Quadrella selections make a loss in May.  If they do that will mean from the last twelve months my selections will have made a profit in nine and a loss in three.  Hopefully we can get a reasonable collect to get us back to even before the month is finished.  Looking at Cranbourne and maybe Townsville for tomorrow.

27/05/2008  Ratings only.  One Quadrella win today at Warrnambool Pd. $1,101.70 and Qld Treble Pd. $1,508.10.  It's not often the Treble pays more than the Quadrella.  Once again my ratings on Monday and Tuesday are performing very well.  Whilst my Quadrella selections are down this month any members who have taken the Quadrella on Monday and Tuesday using my top five rated horses in each leg would have made a profit.  Overall 25 races for 18 winners, 7 quinellas, 5 trifectas and 3 first fours.

26/05/2008  Ratings only.  One very good Quadrella win today at Benalla Pd. $6,793.20 and the Qld Treble Pd. $486.20.  Whilst May has been very hard for my selections, my ratings on Monday and Tuesday have been performing very well.  Overall 26 races for 20 winners, 11 quinellas, 6 trifectas and 2 first fours.

25/05/2008  One Quadrella today at Ballarat where we missed the last leg.  May has been a very tough month for my Quadrella selections.  Hopefully that will change soon but this is a very challenging game and if it was easy everyone would be doing it.  The collects will come but in the meantime we'll all just have to hang in there.  Overall 7 races selected for 4 winners, 4 quinellas, 1 trifecta and no first fours.

24/05/2008  That was very tough today.  Three Quadrellas for no winners and knocked out in the first leg of each one.  I know I've said it many times but Saturdays and Wednesdays just won't do us any favours at the moment and today was no different.  Overall 24 races selected for just the 9 winners, 4 quinellas, 2 trifectas and 1 first four.  A very poor day indeed.

23/05/2008  Pleased that I left today alone as I would have lost one leg at both Geelong and Mackay.  Looking at Moonee Valley, Randwick, Doomben and Morphetville for tomorrow.  Belmont ratings will be added to the morning ratings around 1 pm.

22/05/2008  Very poor result today at Sale where I missed three legs of the Quadrella.  Whilst it's unusual for my selections to perform that poorly it does happen from time to time.  Overall 8 races selected for just the 4 winners, 1 quinella and no trifectas or first fours.  I don't think there will be any selections tomorrow as the racing doesn't look very good but I'll look at Geelong and Mackay anyway so please check the members page just in case.

21/05/2008  A poor result today at Sandown where we missed two of the Quadrella legs.  The results at Sandown recently have been very poor so I might think about not investing there until I see some improvement.  Overall 8 races selected for 4 winners, 3 quinellas, one trifecta and no first fours.  Looking at Sale and maybe Northam for tomorrow.

20/05/2008  Ratings only.  One Quadrella win today at Pakenham Pd. $5,703.70 and Qld Treble Pd. $906.00.  The quinella in race four at Townsville Pd. $159.10.  Overall 26 races for 19 winners, 6 quinellas, 3 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Looking at Sandown, Rosehill and Ipswich for tomorrow.  I will also post my ratings for Belmont around 1pm and I should be able to post my ratings for Hong Kong.

19/05/2008  Ratings only.  No Quadrella wins today.  An excellent first four collect in race 6 at Wangaratta Pd. $3,581.90.  Overall 18 races for 8 winners, 6 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 3 first fours.

18/05/2008  Unfortunately I had to attend to a very urgent and very personal matter today so I wasn't able to provide any selections.  As it turned out I would have selected Mornington and, whilst we would have won, it only Pd. $426.20.  Ratings only tomorrow and Tuesday.

NOTICE FOR MEMBERS REGARDING WA RACING. One of my members has asked if I can provide my ratings for WA racing.  I am happy to do so for metro meetings at Ascot and Belmont.  As you all know my ratings are posted around 11am.  In the future I'll add on any WA metro meetings to the earlier ratings around 1.00pm (eastern) any day they race at Ascot or Belmont.  My personal view is that it can be hard to find value in the West but if members would like to use them I'm happy to provide the service.  Don't forget I now also provide my ratings for Hong Kong.

17/05/2008  One Quadrella win today at Doomben Pd. $1,840.60 and Qld Treble Pd. $81.30.  I thought we were very unlucky at Flemington today and should have won the Quadrella.  Romping (the horse that knocked us out) found little in the final stages last Saturday over 1400m and was run down 50m or so from the post.  Today it found legs in the final stages over 1600m in the wet!  To be honest though I thought we were lucky in the last at Doomben to have the protest against our runner dismissed.  A little bit disappointed with the dividend at Doomben as we got the first leg up at $17.70 although I noticed the daily double only Pd. $43.40 so it seems quite a few punters had Quizzical Lady in their multi-leg combinations.  Pleased that I left Rosehill and Morphetville alone as I would have lost both.  The trifecta in race 5 at Doomben Pd. $2,852.20.  Overall 16 races selected for 13 winners, 9 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Looking at Mornington, Coffs Harbour and the Sunshine Coast for tomorrow.  I should also be able to post my ratings for Hong Kong.

16/05/2008  Turned out to be the correct decision today to leave it alone.  The meetings I looked closest at were Bendigo and Ipswich and I would have lost the last leg (again!) in both.  Looking at Flemington, Rosehill, Doomben and Morphetville for tomorrow.

15/05/2008  We are experiencing a very frustrating period at the moment.  Three legs up today at Ballarat and second in the last.  We are due a reasonable collect and hopefully it isn't too far away.  Overall 10 races selected for 8 winners, 6 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 1 first four.  Some of you may have noticed that I have put a message on my newsletter page stating that membership to the Quadrella Club closes on 30th June 2008.  This does NOT affect existing members.  Looking at Bendigo, Grafton and Ipswich for tomorrow.

14/05/2008  Two Quadrellas today for two losses.  Wednesdays and Saturdays are always tough.  Wednesday I think is trainers day when the trainers are trying to find out if their horses are up to Saturday class and Saturdays are just so competitive.  It's always frustrating to lose in the last leg like we did at Sandown when the Quadrella is potentially going to pay quite well.  Sunshine Coast was terrible.  It's been a midweek bogey track of mine in the past so I don't think we'll be investing there again except on a Sunday.  Overall 16 races selected for 9 winners, 4 quinellas, 3 trifectas and one first four.  My Hong Kong ratings for tonight have now been posted.  Looking at Ballarat, Gosford and Rockhampton for tomorrow.

13/05/2008  Ratings only.  Just the one Quadrella at Townsville which only Pd. $54.70 and Qld Treble Pd. $21.90.  Unlucky at Moe where the ratings missed the last leg.  Another excellent first four collect in race 6 at Moe Pd. $5483.00 and the trifecta Pd. $982.10.  Looking at Sandown and the Sunshine Coast for tomorrow and maybe Balaklava.  I should also be able to post my ratings for Hong Kong.

12/05/2008  Ratings only.  One Quadrella win at Sha Tin Pd. $2,842.60 and the Qld Treble Pd. $240.80.  A big first four collect in race 5 at Sha Tin Pd. $10,829.00.  The trifecta in race 9 at Stawell Pd. $1,036.60 and race 5 at Sha Tin Pd $2,692.30.  After a slow start my ratings performance at Hong Kong is quite pleasing.  Overall 33 races for 23 winners, 14 quinellas, 8 trifectas and four first fours.

11/05/2008  A disappointing day at Geelong where I missed two legs of the Quadrella.  I might have to reaccess whether we invest on Geelong's artificial track in the future.  At least leaving the Sunshine Coast alone was the correct decision.  Overall 8 races selected for 4 winners, 4 quinellas, 2 trifectas and no first fours.  Ratings only tomorrow and Tuesday.

10/05/2008  My special Quadrella at Doomben Pd. $442.90 and the Qld Treble Pd. $67.10.  The Qld treble at Morphetville Pd. $946.50 (deadheat in race 5 so two collects of $361.40 and $585.10).  It was a typical Saturday: very tough and I only got three legs at Caulfield and Morphetville.  Ratings users got a good first four collect at Hawkesbury in race 4 Pd. $3,201.70.  I'm glad I left Hawkesbury alone though as it looked like it had no value and it turned out that way.  Overall 24 races selected for 18 winners, 11 quinellas, 6 trifectas and 3 first fours.  Looking at Bendigo and the Sunshine Coast for tomorrow.

09/05/2008  The correct decision to pass on today.  A good first four collect at Mackay in race 7 Pd. $3,520.60, the trifecta Pd. $1,316.50 and the quinella Pd. $181.40.  If you've noticed the recent Quadrella and first four collects on the newsletter page and you're wondering why I've only listed the ones I have, the reason is I'm only listing Quadrella collects over $4,000.00 and first four wins over $1,500.00.  Obviously there have been a lot more collects but I'm just listing the good ones.  Looking at Caulfield, Newcastle, Doomben, Morphetville and maybe Hawkesbury for tomorrow.

08/05/2008  A great win today at Bendigo where the Quadrella Pd. $6,268.40 and Qld Treble Pd. $935.20.  Very happy that re-rating the fields due to a track change worked today as it's cost us a few collects recently.  I noticed that NSWTAB and UNiTAB account holders did much better as NSWTAB Pd. $13,866.70 and UNiTAB Pd. $16,709.20 so hopefully a few members got some of those.  Overall 8 races selected for 6 winners, 1 quinella, 1 trifecta and 1 first four.  Looking at Cranbourne and Mackay for tomorrow. 

Hong Kong ratings update from last night.   I noticed that the ratings last night got the Quadrella which Pd. $10,301.10.  Hope some members were on.  Overall 8 races for 5 winners, 2 quinellas, 1 trifecta and no first fours.

07/05/2008  Another forgetable day.  Even though we got three out of the four legs (again!) there wasn't any value anyway.  Leaving the other meetings alone was ultimately the correct decision as we would have missed Canterbury and Strathalbyn and the Sunshine Coast paid poorly.  Overall 9 races selected for 7 winners, 2 quinellas, 1 trifecta and no first fours.  Looking at Bendigo and Wyong for tomorrow and possibly Townsville.  The Kempsey Cup is run tomorrow so I'll post my ratings for that meeting as well.  New members don't forget if you have any concerns or questions about our current tough run please don't hesitate to email me at philstips@philstips.com.

05/05/2008  Ratings only.  One Quadrella win today at Ararat Pd. $6,507.00 and Qld Treble Pd. $571.20.  A very big first four collect at Ararat race 8 Pd. $14,473.10.  Trifecta collects included Ararat race 8 Pd. $970.90 and Narromine race 7 Pd. $525.20.  Overall 43 races for 27 winners, 14 quinellas, 5 trifectas and two first fours.

03/05/2008  Just the one Quadrella today at Moonee Valley Pd. $606.80 and Qld Treble Pd. $248.30.  It was a typical Saturday: very hard.  Unfortunately I passed on the Gold Coast and the ratings got the Quadrella which Pd. $3061.00.  We are certainly due a decent collect as we just keep getting second in the legs we are missing.  Overall 25 races selected for 16 winners, 13 quinellas, 8 trifectas and 3 first fours.  Looking at Sandown, Gosford and Sunshine Coast for tomorrow.  Hoping to do my ratings for Hong Kong too. 

02/05/2008  A poor result today at Mornington today where we missed three legs of the Quadrella.  It was disappointing because Mornington has been one of my better tracks in the past.  Overall 8 races selected for 3 winners, 2 quinellas, 2 trifectas and no first fours.  Looking at Moonee Valley, Randwick, Gold Coast, Ipswich and Morphetville for tomorrow.  Remember that on a Saturday I halve my bet size as the racing is always very competitive.  You might want to consider doing the same.  If we do get a big collect on a Saturday half is better than nothing and if we lose all half is also better.

01/05/2008  One Quadrella win today at Wyong Pd. $3,341.60 and the Qld Treble Pd. $549.60.  It certainly beats losing and it makes up a little bit for the millions we missed out on yesterday.  Overall 8 selected races selected for 5 winners, 4 quinellas and no trifectas or first fours.  Sorry about the muck up with the Hong Kong ratings.  I thought the first race was around 9pm but it was around 2pm.  I posted them anyway.  I have amended the newsletter page in include some recent results and have removed the mettings that I am looking at for the next day or so.  If you want to know future meetings I am considering please check my diary page.  Looking at Mornington and Doomben for tomorrow. 

30/04/2008  What can I say?  So close and yet so far.  The track was upgraded at Randwick so I had to re-rate the field.  The new ratings demoted Belong To Many and it won at $23.80 and knocked us out.  At Warrnambool we came close to my biggest collect ever.  Dashatin ran second in the last.  Had it won we would have collected $99,374.60.  After the race I went back over my ratings and the extra criteria I apply to my Quadrella selections and I can honestly say there was no way, even with hindsight, I would have picked the winner in the last.  The Qld Treble at Randwick Pd. $160.90.  The fisrt four in race 4 at Randwick Pd. $4,011.00 and the trifecta Pd. $513.00.  Overall 17 races for 10 winners, 6 quinellas, 3 trifectas and 3 first fours.  My ratings for Warrnambool tomorrow will be posted however there won't be any Quadrella selections for the meeting because the first leg is the Grand Annual Steeplechase.  If I have the time ratings for Hong Kong will be posted between 6pm and 7pm tomorrow.  Have a stiff drink tonight and dream of what might have been.  Back to reality tomorrow.

29/04/2008  Ratings only.  Just the one Quadrella win today at Warrnambool Pd. $509.30.  Qld Treble Pd. $70.20.  The ratings missed one leg at Townsville and two at Port Macquarie.  First four collects included Townsville race 7 Pd $2,657.20.  Trifecta collects included Warrnambool race 10 Pd $190.10 and Townsville race 7 Pd $197.00.  Overall 25 races for 13 winners, 7 quinellas, 5 trifectas and 3 first fours.

28/04/2008  Ratings only.  No Quadrellas for the ratings today.  Just remeber that Monday and Tuesday are ratings only days so always keep in mind that no work has been done on the Quadrella legs and therefore they're not included in the Profit and Loss Results even if we get a big one like last Tuesday.  Trifecta collects included Donald race 5 Pd. $207.30, Grafton race 4 Pd. $244.10 and Queanbeyan race 2 Pd. $246.60.  Overall 23 races for 13 winners, 9 quinellas, 6 trifectas and 3 first fours. 

27/04/2008  Just the one Quadrella win toady which didn't pay enough.  Sunshine Coast Quadrella Pd. $224.50 and Qld Treble Pd. $75.90.  Once again three legs at reasonable prices and second in the last leg at Bendigo.  Whilst the returns from this game can be very pleasing there is no doubt that race-to-race, day-to-day and week-to-week the results can drive you mad.  Especially when we are suffering a case of seconditis in the fouth leg!  We are close but we just can't get that winner in the last.  Our luck will change.  Overall 16 races selected for 10 winners, 5 quinellas, 3 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Just ratings tomorrow.

26/04/2008  Tough day at the office.  We just can't get that fourth leg up consistently at the moment and two of the three losing Quadrellas our selections ran second again!  Just a word about Saturdays.  Some of you already know that I believe Saturday racing is very hard (as is Wednesday).  In fact I know of some members who have stopped investing on a Saturday.  If you are a new member, or just undecided about Saturdays, you may want to think about reducing the size of your investments on Saturdays.  Personally I bet half of my usual amount.  Of course now that I have said this, naturally we will get a massive collect this coming Saturday.  :)  Overall 25 races selected for 16 winners, 12 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 1 first four.  Hopefully we'll get a reasonable collect soon.  In the meantime hang in there, the rewards will come.

25/04/2008  One Quadrella today for a win.  As a result of the dead heat in race 6 we collected two dividends.  The first dividend Pd. $2122.70 and the second Pd. $1250.60.  A total collect of $3373.30.  Hopefully some members also got a share of the Quadrella at Moe which the ratings got at $7,246.70.  Overall 8 races selected for 6 winners, 4 quinellas, 1 trifecta and 1 first four.

24/04/2008  No luck again today.  My lowest rated horse flew down the outside and once again we got three legs and second in the other.  Very frustrating but our luck will change.  First four collects included Rockhampton race 9 Pd. $2268.70 and the trifecta Pd. $351.00.  Overall 17 races for 11 winners, 9 quinellas, 7 trifectas and 3 first fours.  Looking at Flemington, Bathurst, Gold Coast and Gawler for tomorrow.


Hong Kong ratings update from last night.  No Quadrella but some excellent exotics results.  First four in race 4 Pd. $4639.50 and race 6 Pd. $2442.00.  Trifecta in race 1 Pd. $747.80, race 4 Pd. $457.20 and race 6 Pd. $1069.70.  Quinella in race 6 Pd. $132.50.  Overall 8 races for 5 winners, 4 quinellas, 3 trifectas and 2 first fours.  A pleasing improvement on previous Hong Kong meetings.

23/04/2008  Just the one Quadrella win today at Canterbury which Pd. $1393.70 and Qld Treble Pd. $148.90.  We were unlucky at Doomben and should have won.  Very frustrating when the pace setters come off the rail and allow the back markers a free run at the shortest trip home, especially when our selections ran second, third and fourth and all went the long way home.  Qld Treble at Doomben Pd. $446.80.  Sandown was a poor result for us as we missed three legs and in fact the ratings were very poor at Sandown today.  Sometimes it happens.  First four at Doomben race 8 Pd. $3545.10 and the trifecta Pd. $453.80.  Overall 23 races selected for 13 winners, 9 quinellas, 3 trifectas and 2 first fours.  Looking at Geelong, Ballina and Rockhampton for tomorrow.

22/04/2008  Ratings only.  Great day.  Two Quadrella wins.  Benella Pd. $7690.20 and Qld Treble Pd. $1952.80.  Townsville Pd. $2407.20 and Qld Treble Pd. $235.60.  A big first four collect at Benalla where race 8 Pd. $9692.50.  Trifecta collects included Benella race 5 Pd. $499.60 and race 8 Pd. $1366.60.  Quinella in race 8 at Benalla Pd. $139.90.  Hope members had a good day.  Looking at Sandown, Canterbury and Doomben for tomorrow.  Hong Kong ratings should also be available between 6pm and 7pm.

21/04/2008  Ratings only.  No luck with the Quadrellas.  Unlucky at Goulburn to be knocked out in the last leg.  First four collects included Goulburn race 8 Pd. $1222.60 and Quirindi race 3 Pd. $1234.20.  Trifectas included Goulburn race 7 Pd. $594.00.  Overall 25 races for 17 winners, 9 quinellas, 8 trifectas and 5 first fours.

20/04/2008  Two quadrellas and just no luck.  Unfortunately I had to re-rate the field at the Sunshine Coast after the track was downgraded and it cost us the Quadrella.  Last Sunday the same thing happened at Tatura and it won us the Quadrella.  First four collects included race 7 at the Sunshine Coast Pd. $5215.10 and the trifecta Pd. $976.90.  Overall 16 races selected for 9 winners, 6 quinellas, 4 trifectas and 3 first fours.

19/04/2008  Four Quadrellas today for two wins.  Caulfield Pd. $439.50 and Qld Treble Pd $49.40.  Newcastle Pd. $5244.20 (no Qld Treble for the meeting).  Qld Treble at Eagle Farm Pd. $627.50.  Even though we had no luck at Eagle Farm the ratings got the UNiTAB Quadrella which Pd. $27,749.40.  A great day for UNiTAB users.  The trifecta in race 4 at Eagle Farm Pd. $3740.20 and the quinella Pd. $109.20.  Overall 24 races selected for 16 winners, 12 quinellas, 11 trifectas and 6 first fours.

18/04/2008  Certainly the correct decision to leave today's racing alone.  The last leg at Bendigo looked tough and Mackay and Dubbo both looked very hard.  As it turned out we would have lost all three today if we had of bet.  Some days the most profitable thing to do is take a day off and today was one of those days.  Even though we've had a bit of a tough run since Wednesday we've left alone five Quadrellas over the last two days and we would have lost them all.  Overall 25 races selected for 19
